On October 4 to 6, 2011 INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 annual international specialized exhibition-conference on informational security took place at Expocenter Fairgrounds.
It is for the eighth time that INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 provided its participants and visitors with the opportunity to get a full idea of the modern market of products and services for the information protection, visit the conference programme and take part in the long-awaited ceremonial and contest events.
In general the exhibition-conference was participated by over 70 companies from Russia and other countries of the world: the USA, Germany, the Great Britain, Israel. The event was visited by 3,897 specialists from different regions of Russia and foreign countries. The level of the experts participated in the discussion of the problems and tasks is worth special attention – they are heads of IS departments of the leading companies from all sectors of economy, representatives of the state regulators in the IS sphere and the leading professional associations.
INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 ceremonial part started with the first-ever in the exhibition events Assembly of Experts in Informational Security, a high-society meeting of experts and the acknowledged leaders of opinion. Annual Security Awards-2011 took place at the Assambly. The winners were elected by open voting at the web-site in twelve nominations.
At the INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 official opening ceremony the event honourable visitors congratulated the participants and visitors. The INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 business programme was opened by the Plenary session ‘Public safety in the informational society’ where usage of information and communication technologies for the sake of the state and the public was the main discussion topic. The plenary session facilitator was A.P.Germogenov, deputy head of Department for the creation and development of informational society, Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of Russia.

The exhibition and conference programme was continued by round tables and discussions on currently important issues of informational protection of banking and financial structures, as well as in different industrial sectors. Among others the following issues were considered: new aspects of legislation, banking transactions and applications safety, counteraction to the threats of confidential information leakage, fight against cyber-criminality, overviews of innovative technological solutions and introduction of new standards, application of informational security technologies in the fuel and energy sector and transportation and etc.
INFOBEZ-EXPO exhibition programme represented all market directions, including a line of vendors, integrators and suppliers of IS goods and services. However business and exhibition programmes were not the only one reason for the specialists to meet. An interesting contest programme is also a traditional part of INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011.
‘Brain-ring: IT vs IS or who is more important in the company?’ took place on the second day, facilitated by V.V.Minin, Board Chairman of ARSIB, co-chairman of SoDIt IS committee, councilor of chairman of AZI IPO. The brain-ring topic was important for many organizations. Watching the argument between the IT and IS communities leaders the participants and visitors took a look at the functions of IS divisions in the companies in a different way.
The traditional contest of novelties ‘Lions and Gladiators’ is always a success. In 2011 the participants from seven companies defended their products and fought for the right to have the main capture of the contest – a real gladiator’s sword. The winner of the ‘Lions and Gladiators’ contest was Valery Gulian, technical expert of the Russian representation of Fortinet, who presented a new solution for comprehensive networks security FortiGate.
Representatives of the INFOBEZ-EXPO 2011 organising committee told the visitors about their development prospects and made a presentation of draft INFOBEZ-EXPO 2012, where they demonstrated new opportunities for the participants and the visitors. It is already next year that the INFOBEZ EXPO International exhibition and conference will offer a number of new high quality on-line services such as: on-line matchmaking center, Infobez Expo Live, on-line exhibition, which will allow make the work before and during the exhibition more effective. INFOBEZ-EXPO 2012 will take place on October 3-5 next year at Expocenter Fairgrounds.
